Kindergarten 2026
Getting ready for school
We welcome you to the Beaumont Road Public School community and look forward to working with you to ensure your child’s wellbeing and ongoing educational and social success. The importance of a positive transition to school is well-recognised. It is one of the most significant events in the lives of young children and their families and at Beaumont Road Public School we are committed to working with you to ensure you have all the information and support you need to help your child get the most out of school.
Kindergarten focused tour
Join Beau and Monti as they take a special kindergarten focused tour of Beaumont Road to help you and your child/children become familiar with our school.
Kindergarten orientation
We have a comprehensive transition to school program, including an Information Evening in Term 3, school tours throughout the year and three Kindergarten Orientation sessions in Term 4. As well as this, we liaise with local preschools and invite them to visit during Terms 3 and 4. These opportunities allow students to become familiar with the school setting and provide an ideal opportunity to connect with families and support them to become active participants in their child’s learning.
Research tells us that a successful transition to school helps improve children’s educational and social outcomes. A positive transition will help prepare children to make new friends, learn routines, and develop a sense of belonging within the new school environment. It will also help their school to recognise and support children’s developmental needs, interests and skills. We encourage all students to attend all three sessions. If you are unable to attend a session, please let us know so we can ensure you receive the appropriate information.

Best start assessment
Children develop at different rates and learn skills in different ways. At Beaumont Road Public School we respond to the needs, learning styles and rates of progress of individual students. Children start school with a range of experiences, skills and abilities. In the first week of school Kindergarten students will undertake the Best Start Assessment. The assessment allows teachers to spend one-on-one time with each child, learning about their literacy and numeracy abilities. This helps teachers plan effective teaching and learning programs. The assessment does not require students to prepare or study.
