The band program has been in operation for over 50 years and is a popular extra-curricular program open to all students from Year 3 - 6.
The band program at BRPS is run by the P&C by a dedicated Band Committee.
The program currently offers three concert bands that consist of brass (trumpets, trombones, baritones/euphonium), woodwind (saxophones, clarinets, flutes), bass guitar and percussion instruments.
Junior band: Year 3 and other beginners (rehearsals Monday 7:30am)
Intermediate band: Year 4 (rehearsals Thursday 7:30am)
Senior Band: Years 5 & 6 (rehearsals Wednesday 7:30am)
To participate in the Band Program there is a yearly fee that covers costs such as conductor-led weekly rehearsals, maintenance of school-owned instruments, a performance shirt, band music, an annual Band Jam workshop and entry fees for other performances. In addition to rehearsals, the band program runs individual music lessons with qualified tutors. The tuition fees for these lessons are paid directly to the music tutor each term.
A mobile app called BandForte is used for all communication with band families. A unique child-specific link will be sent out to access the portal.
As part of the band program, parents are required to assist in supervising rehearsals. Sharing this commitment across all the band families means you should only be rostered on 1-2 times during the year. Please note that parents must hold and register a valid WWCC.
For more information, please contact the Band Chairperson, Sophie Bork.
Our primary school choir welcomes students to develop their singing skills, confidence, and teamwork through regular rehearsals and performances both at school and in the wider community. It’s a joyful way for students to express themselves and share their love of music through various local events and concerts.
We have extra-curricular dance available to students across the grades. Students in years 4-6 are eligible for our Senior Performance Group who engage in a range of local performances and festivals throughout the year. There are lunch time dance groups for students in Years 1-2, and 3-6 that are open to all students. Students in Years 3-6 also have the opportunity to elect to participate in a massed dance performance at Sydney Olympic Park as part of Pulse Alive.
Our school actively participates in the PSSA (Primary Schools Sports Association) competitions, providing students with the opportunity to compete at various levels. We support and nurture students' sporting talents by offering pathways for continued participation, whether through representative teams, training sessions, or local competitions.
All students participate in various excursions to enhance learning through real-world experiences. Years 4-6 also enjoy overnight camps, promoting teamwork, independence, and personal growth while exploring new environments and building lasting friendships beyond the classroom to places such as Taronga Zoo, Sports & Recreation and Canberra.
The recess library book club invites students to explore new stories, share ideas, and enjoy reading with friends in a relaxed setting. It’s a fun way to foster a love of books and build a community of young readers.
We offer student leadership opportunities that help develop confidence, responsibility, and teamwork skills. Students can take on roles such as class captains, peer mentors, and members of the student council to make a positive impact in the school community.
Our primary school’s HPGE (High potential and gifted education) activities challenge and engage students through enriched learning experiences tailored to their abilities. These programs encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to help students reach their full potential.
